Obituary of Gale Leroy Baker
Gale Leroy Baker, age 70 of Iuka passed away Monday July 15, 2019 at Willowbrook Memory Care in Effingham.
Gale was born on December 2, 1948 in Omega Township, Illinois to Leon and Fannie (Mulvany) Baker. He married Caryl (Steinlicht) Baker on December 22, 1968 in Colfax, Illinois and she survives in Iuka.
Survivors include his wife, daughter, Barbara Cleary and husband James of Iuka; son, Michael Baker and wife Sara of Effingham; 4 brothers, Laurence Baker and wife Louise of Colfax, Dale Baker and wife Faye Ann of Farina, Gary Baker of Salem, and Jim Baker and wife Jeannie of Goreville; 2 sisters: Rose Marie Meador of Greentown, Indiana and Velma Burkett and husband Bob of Centralia; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Baker, Justin Baker, and Andrea Cleary; step grandson, Madison Fritscher and wife McKenzie.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Everett, and Gene and a sister, Ula Mae Mueller
He worked in the Fertilizer Business from 1977-1989 and was a County Executive Director for FSA. He was a member of the Lovell's Grove Christian Church.
Services for Gale Leroy Baker will be held on Saturday August 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home, with Roy Koduvalil officiating. Burial will be at the Lovell's Grove (1880) Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday August 3rd from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gale Baker Family Memorial Scholarship for a Salem FFA Member, with checks payable to Caryl Baker, or the Lovell's Grove (1880) Cemetery.
