Obituary of Robert Wayne Meador

Robert Wayne Meador, age 82 of Salem passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Robert was born on May 30, 1938 in Kell, Illinois to Omer and Dorothy (Hill) Meador. He married Neva Miller and she preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by one son, Bobby Meador of Salem; one daughter, Dotty Curtner and husband Dannyy of Salem; grandchildren, Charlie Meador, Clarissa Strauch and husband Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Alex, Hailey, Braxton and Nylah; sister, Betty Evans; nieces and nephews, Pamela Venezio, Marvin Meador, Connie Sutherland, John Evans, Mike Evans, Bill Clark and Jim Clark; aunts, Frances Meador, Barb Hill and Wilma Hill; sisters-in-law, Linda Telford and Mable Horton; special lifelong friends, Dick McClean, Myra and Dean Milburn, Jo and George Dugan, Lanee Pollard and Missy Henson; and couch buddies, Pug and Lil Bit. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Debbie Meador; and brother, Marvin Meador. Robert was one of the first employees at Don’s Auto Body and later retired from the shop. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family. Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Donoho Prairie Cemetery in Texico. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Social distancing will be enforced at the funeral home with no more than 50 visitors at a time inside the building. The family requests that those attending wear jeans and t-shirts. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
