Lenis Robert Ward, age 84 of Salem formerly of Odin passed away on Thursday May 30, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Lenis was born on May 14, 1935 in Salem, IL to Lenis M. and Glenna Edith (Elkins) Ward. He married Sandra Sue (Chappell) Ward in September of 1955 and she preceded him in death. Survivors include 3 daughters: Vickie Faulkner and husband Danny of Severn, MD; Debbie Hoover and special friend Joy Evans of Odin; Sandra Burge of Salem; son, Lenis Robert Ward Jr. and wife Jude of Parish, NY; brothers, Donald Ward of Farmington and David Ward and wife Linda of Beckley, WV; grandchildren, Lisa Rogers, Brian Faulkner, Rob Ward, Justin Ward, Michael Hoover, Nathan Ward, and Jessica Ward; great grandchildren, Taylor Faulkner, Briana Faulkner, Kathryn Ward, Liam Ward, Zachery Hoover, Madison Rogers, and Mackenzie Rogers Lenis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Tony Ray Ward, and 4 sisters. He retired from the Air Force after serving for 20 years, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. After retiring from the Air Force he went to work in maintenance at Salem Township Hospital where he retired. Funeral services for Lenis Robert Ward will be held on Thursday June 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home with Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. There will be Military rites by the Salem American Legion. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Donor's Choice and may be left at the funeral home.
