David Burroughs, age 50 of Iuka, passed away on Sunday October 11, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital. David was born on January 13, 1970 in Centralia, IL, the son of Alan Burroughs and Erma (Merriman) Thornburg. Survivors include his mother, Erma Thornburg of Iuka; step mother, Jan Burroughs of Webb City, MO; significant other, Lorene Hill of Iuka; daughter, Patricia Bowman of GA; three sisters, Laranda Ferrero and husband Jeff of Pinkneyville, IL, Angie Bundy and husband Brett of Web City, MO, and Alane Golubski and husband Keith of Web City, MO; 2 grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Burroughs; stepfather, Buddy Thornburg; and his paternal and maternal grandparents. David served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a truck driver and of the Christian Faith. Funeral services for David Burroughs will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2020 at 2:30pm at Crouse Funeral Home with Ronnie Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at the New Liberty Cemetery in rural Iuka with military rites by the Salem American Legion. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
