Obituary of Raymond Lee Jones
Raymond Lee Jones, age 84 of Salem passed away on May 21, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Raymond was born on April 8, 1935 in Salem, IL to Glen R. and Avaline (Morgan) Jones. He married Melba (Kelly) Jones on August 5, 1955 in Salem and she survives in Salem.
Survivors include a son, Garry Jones and wife Renee of Pineville, Louisiana; daughters, Terri Kramer and husband Ronnie of Farina and Deidre Jones of Salem. Raymond helped raised three of his grandchildren, Shawn Rasul and wife Kerri of Salem, Kiran Rasul of Salem, and Anissa Rasul of Salem; also survived by a grandson Seth Jones of Louisiana; great grandchildren, Carson Bryan, Alivia Rasul, and Kameron Rasul. He was expecting the birth of another great granddaughter, Atlee Rasul.
Raymond was a member of the National Shoot and Retrieve Field Trial, he was a charter member of the Salem Little League, he coached Little League Baseball, and he played men's slow pitch softball.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home with Garry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Prairie Cemetery in rural Salem. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Summit Prairie Cemetery.
