Donnie Ray Evans, age 70 of Alma, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital. Donnie was born on November 5, 1953 in Cullman, Alabama the son of Merchon B. and Ola Mae (Elliott) Evans. He married Patricia Blew on May 17, 1975 in Chicago Heights and she survives in Alma. In addition to his wife Patricia Evans, he is survived by his sons, Christopher Evans of Alma and Daniel Evans and wife Angela of Sesser; five grandchildren, Patricia D., Skylar, Jaydin, Elijah and Tina; two great-grandchildren, Keaton and Reagor; mother, Ola Mae Evans of Crete, IL; brothers, Terrell and wife Diane, Frank and wife Vesta, and Gabriel and wife Louise; sisters, Ann and husband Joe, Barbara Sue and husband Jim, Teresa and husband Mike, and Mary and husband Dave; and several nieces and nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Merchon B. Evans; and a brother, Merchon R. Evans. Donnie was a man of great faith. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who loved his family dearly. He loved camping, traveling, sitting by the water or a campfire and collecting antique glassware. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Redemption Church in Salem with Pastor Josh Phillips officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
