Kaye E. Shelby, age 78 of Salem, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at her home in Salem. Kaye was born on April 24, 1946 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Clayton and Hazel (Mason) Rawls. She married Earl Jaye Shelby Sr. on August 11, 1963 in Fairfield, Illinois and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Earl Shelby of Salem; a son, William Gene Shelby of Salem; daughter Tracey McDaneld and husband Jason of Salem; grandchildren, William Eugene Shelby, Christopher Earl Shelby, Kaitlyn Raye Harrison, and Aaron Jaye McDaneld; along with several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Hazel Rawls; and a son, Earl Jaye Shelby Jr. Kaye was a housewife. She was a devoted member of the Gospel Lighthouse church for over 25 years. Her family meant the world to her and she loved her grandchildren. Celebration of Life services for Kaye E. Shelby are being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gospel Lighthouse Church and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
