Obituary of Virginia "Ginny" Randolph
Virginia “Ginny” Randolph, age 72 of Kinmundy, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora, Illinois.
Ginny was born in Vandalia, IL on February 11, 1952, the daughter of Harvey Warren and Vera Margaret (Hampsten) Johnston. She married Charles Randolph on August 29, 1971 at the Kinmundy Christian Church and he survives in Kinmundy.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Kinmundy; two daughters, Susie Robb and husband Jason of Kinmundy and Lisa Erlbaum and husband David of Plymouth Meeting, PA; grandchildren, Hailey Robb, Morgan Robb, Isaac Erlbaum, and Matthew Erlbaum; brother, Francis Johnston and wife Judy of West Linn, OR; and sister, Patty Purcell of San Antonio, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Vera.
Ginny was a devoted and lifelong member of the Kinmundy Christian Church, volunteering countless hours serving on any committee where she was needed, helping with Sunday school, and any church functions that were occurring. She helped found the Kinmundy Neighborhood Food Pantry, was a founding member of the Rho Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of the Homecoming Gospel Choir. She retired after 37 years working for the University of Illinois Extension Service, and led the Marion County 4-H program for many years, after retirement she went on to work as a receptionist for a few years, always greeting clients with a smile and friendly conversation. Ginny had the biggest smile, biggest heart, and gave the warmest hugs. She loved everyone and brightened the life of anyone she encountered, even total strangers. She loved her church, her family, her community and gospel music.
Funeral services for Ginny Randolph will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Kinmundy Christian Church with Josh Conley officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy. There will be a visitation from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Kinmundy Christian Church and will be accepted at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
