Obituary of Phyllis (Wolf) Blackford

Phyllis (Wolf) Blackford, age 71 of Salem, passed away on February 7, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Phyllis was born on November 4, 1952 in Flora, the daughter of Lloyd and Edna (Ripple) Wolf. She married James Michael “Mike” Blackford on August 25, 1979 in Carmi and he survives in Salem. In addition to her husband Mike; she is survived by two sons, Jeremy and wife Kaci (Mannis) Blackford of Murray, KY and Jason and Ashli (Maier) Blackford of Trenton; grandchildren, Kaylee, Hayden, Dylan, Jaxon, Rosliyn and Gabe; and three brothers, Butch Wolf and wife Christine of Bonnie, Dave Wolf and wife Tina of Smithton, and L.D. Wolf and wife Joyce of Carmi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Edna; and four brothers, Gene Wolf, Wayne Wolf, Gary Wolf and Joe Wolf. Phyllis was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Temple. She had retired after working for many years as a beautician. She enjoyed taking care of and walking with her dog, and found pleasure in plants and flower gardening. A Celebration of Life Service for Phyllis Blackford will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Temple with Pastor Tim Reynolds and Pastor Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a time to visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Temple Christian School and will be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
