Patricia Bernadene Shreffler, age 92 of Salem passed away at her home on Saturday, December 16, 2023. She was born on July 6, 1931 in Kinmundy, the daughter of Earl Clarence and Dollie Elizabeth (Perry) Shanafelt. She married James C. Shreffler in 1950 and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. She is survived by two children, Cynthia Conder of Salem and Christian Boyles and fiancée Amber of Salem; daughter-in-law, Cheri Shreffler of Salem; siblings, Larry Shanafelt and wife Carolyn of Kinmuny and Linda Stein and husband Bill of Carlyle; sisters-in-law, Roberta Shreffler and Barb Shanafelt; grandchildren, Cami Boyles, Ron Walker and wife Amanda, Eric Shreffler and wife Sherry, and Derek Shreffler; great-grandchildren, Kyle Boyles, KayLynn Walker, Hailey Pritchard and husband Dakotah, Bianca Britt, Jacob Smith, Angel Spinner, and McKenzie Walker; great-great-grandchildren, Koty Pritchard, Nova Pritchard, and Amarrah Brumley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Shreffler; grandson, Timothy Carl Shreffler; and siblings, Hugo Shanafelt, Wayne Shanafelt, Eilene Hoagland and husband Bud, Imogene Parker and husband Raymond, and Delores Tolliver and husband Ralph. Bernie attended the Alma Christian Church. She retired from Brown Shoe Company after 35 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially working with her hydrangeas. Her grandkids and family were the center of her life and she cherished the time she as able to spend with them. Funeral services for Patricia Bernadene Shreffler will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Randy VanAusdall officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
