Obituary of Sherry L. Chappell-Profancik
Sherry L. Chappell-Profancik, 53, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her home in Salem. Sherry was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
Sherry was born to John and Valerie (Hunt) Spear in Centralia on October 15, 1970. She married Alan Profancik on July 14, 2012 and he survives in Salem.
In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by daughters Malerie Heyduck and husband George of Salem and Sierra Sims and husband Tyler of Imperial, Mo.; grandchildren Remington Sims, Lawson Heyduck, Lincoln Heyduck and Baby Sims, who is expected to arrive in the summer of 2024; father-in-law and mother-in-law Alan and Marsha Profancik of Centralia as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father John Darter and her brother, Darren Spear.
Sherry’s outgoing personality never allowed her to meet a stranger and she was unafraid to share her opinions. In her daughters’ younger years, you could find Sherry following them wherever their sporting events took them. Knowing she had a hard time staying quiet, she would put a sucker in her mouth at the start of games to try and keep from yelling at umpires and officials. Sherry loved to dance and was an avid follower of Christ.
More than anything else, however, Sherry’s favorite thing was spending time with and being called “Mawmaw” by her grandchildren, who Sherry readily admitted she spoiled every chance she could.
Sherry earned her license in Cosmetology in 2007 and loved the time she spent with her clientele. Most recently, she was employed as the regional marketing director for Aperion Care.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held Friday, December 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Prior to her passing, Sherry made it abundantly clear she wants this to be a true celebration and not “a sob fest”.
Memorial donations can be made to SWAN (Stopping Woman Abuse Now) of Salem and those memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
