Obituary of Katie Bireca Stroud

Katie Bireca Stroud, 93, of St. Peters, Missouri, peacefully passed away at Clarendale Senior Living on October 14, 2023. Born on March 7, 1930, in Iuka, Illinois, Katie was the cherished daughter of Alvin M. and Gladys P. (Thomas) McClain. She was united in marriage with Gorman E. Stroud on April 19, 1953, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by five of her siblings: Irene Sill, Altris Wimberly, Pauline Wood, Lloyd McClain and Lonnie McClain. Katie is survived by her loving sons, Gregory Stroud and his wife Kathleen of St. Charles, Missouri, and Timothy Stroud and his wife Jennifer of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Julia, Michael, Rachel, and Steven, as well as five great-grandchildren. Katie is also survived by her brother, Leo McClain of Centralia and sister-in-law Vickie McClain of Iuka. In her lifetime, Katie Stroud was a devoted wife and mother. While she was born and raised in Iuka, Illinois, she spent much of her life in the St. Louis area of Missouri. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem. Katie was also a proud member of P.E.O and had a passion for running, playing bridge, sewing, and quilting. Graveside services in memory of Katie Bireca Stroud will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Paradise Cemetery in Salem, with Reverend Dr. Jennifer Stroud officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity or organization of the donor's choice and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
