Mary Ellen Bennett, age 63 of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Odin HealthCare Center in Odin. Mary was born on February 1, 1960 in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Fredrick and Leona (Jones) Bennett. Survivors include her sisters, Wilma Gibson of Aviston and Carol Arnett of New Baden; a brother, Dale Bennett of Xenia; four nieces and nephews, Mandy Gibson and friend Dan Powell of Prairie DuSac, Wisconsin, Craig Cox and wife Stacey of New Baden, Robby Bennett of St. Louis, and Dakota Kramer of Iuka; and three great nieces and nephews, Marissa Cox of Arnold, Missouri and Kiley Cox and Charles Cox of New Baden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Leona Bennett; two sisters, Donna Bennett and Betty Bennett; and a brother, Michael Bennett. Mary worked at Xenia Manufacturing in Xenia for several years. She loved to bowl. Graveside services for Mary Ellen Bennett will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Powers Cemetery in Xenia with Bill Moore officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marion County Humane Society and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
