Catherine Fay Littrell, age 88 of Salem, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. Catherine was born on September 6, 1934 in Willisville, Illinois the daughter of Clyde and Freida (Schnider) Steele. She married Ronald Lee Littrell on December 27, 2001 in Chester, Illinois and he survives in Salem. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, George Eric Fagan and wife Cindy of Salem; siblings, Eileen Glasscock of The Villages, Florida, Arthur A. Steele and wife Sue of Percy, Illinois, and Ricky Joe Gearhardt and husband Jim of Percy, Illinois; grandchildren Jake Hockett, Jon Handegan, and Brandi Dilley; and great grandchildren, Paisley, Presley, and Hunter Hockett, Kinley, Brella, Tatum, and Stetson Handegan, and Quinton and Vayda Dilley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Orpha Jean Brenning. Catherine worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell, then Magazine Mailers, and later Gilsters in Steeleville. She was also a homemaker. She loved playing lottery tickets and poker machines. She served for many years as a classroom mother at Raccoon Grade School. Graveside services for Catherine Fay Littrell were held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Noon at the Percy Village Cemetery in Percy Illinois Rev. Steve Duncan officiated. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
