Obituary of David Andrew Quinn

David Andrew Quinn, 65, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 5th at Salem Township Hospital, with his wife by his side. Originally from Ferguson, MO, Quinn moved to Salem, IL in 2001. David Quinn was born on September 7th, 1957 in St. Louis, MO to Robert J. Quinn and Betty J. (Powell) Quinn; attended McCluer High School and studied Speech and Dramatic Art at Drury University; obtained his Masters of Art-Theatre at University of Central Missouri and Masters of Fine Art-Theatre at Lindenwood, MO. David Quinn dedicated his life to his family, students, colleagues and friends, and to making a difference in his community. David Quinn worked at Kaskaskia College, Centralia, IL as a Director of Theatre/Speech Professor for 21 years and at SIU-E as Speech Professor for 10 years, as well as other St. Louis area colleges. David Quinn supported every one of his students and had a passion for making their college experience memorable. In addition to all of his scholarly achievements, David Quinn had the kindest heart, best sense of humor, loved his family and friends beyond measure, and will be missed by all who knew him. David Quinn is survived by his wife, Bev Quinn of Salem, IL; daughter, Madison Quinn of Davenport, FL; step-son, Logan West (Allison) of Salem, IL; grandchildren, Harper and Landon West of Salem, IL; mother, Betty Quinn, of Wright City, MO; brother, Robert Quinn of Silver Spring, Maryland; sisters, Connie Quinn of O’Fallon, MO and Sue Henderson (Jeff) of St. Peters, MO; brothers-in-law, Alan Wallace (Cathy) of Alma, IL, Kerry Wallace of Lake St. Louis, MO, and Kevin Wallace of St. Charles, MO; nieces and nephews, Sheila George (Greg) of Lake St. Louis, MO, Brianna Bradshaw of O’Fallon, MO, Haley Quinn (Teddy) of Brentwood, MD, Rob Quinn (Aidan) of Rochester, NH, Sarah Wallace (Steve Totten) of Wentzville, MO, Megan Paalhar (Brent) of Brookfield, MO, Emily Wallace of Wright City, MO, and Dylan Plahm of Alma, IL; great-nephews and great-nieces, Keaton George, Vivianne and Emory Paalhar, and Paisley, Lilly, Waylon and Rosalind Totten; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at First Christian Church in Salem, followed by an “Irish Wake”- complete with food, drinks, funny stories, and a “selfie-station” (as requested by David) at the Salem Community Activities Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 9th, at First Christian Church in Salem at 10:30 am, followed by burial in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kaskaskia College Theatre Department for scholarship purposes, to the Salem Community Theatre and Cultural Center, or to the donor’s choice.
