Obituary of Frank R. Bredar

Frank R. Bredar, age 95 of Salem, passed away on August 30, 2023 at his home in Salem. Frank was born on July 10, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois the son of Frank and Marie (Davidson) Bredar. He married Patricia (Davis) Bredar on September 23, 1951 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem and they spent 71 years united in marriage. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bredar of Salem; son, Doug Bredar and wife Debbie of Salem; two daughters, Chris Sears and husband Ron of Salem, and Cynthia Hinck and husband Darrin of Florida; daughter in-law, Julie Bredar of Marion; grandchildren, Stephanie Whyers, Drew Bredar, Cole Bredar, Grant Bredar, Ryan Ray, Kaysie Gruenkemeyer, Brock Bredar, Connor Hinck, and Kramer Hinck; and several great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven Bredar; brother, Jim Bredar; and a sister, Ann Woods. Frank honorably served his country in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem. He worked for many years as a farmer and the Supervisor at Farmers Home Administration. He also spent several years serving on various boards in different capacities and volunteered countless hours to the Gideon's. Family and friends are asked to join the family on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Paradise Cemetery to honor the life and military service of Frank R. Bredar. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by the Salem American Legion. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
