Obituary of Phyllis Irene Stephens

Phyllis Irene Stephens, age 74 of Salem, passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Phyllis was born on December 3, 1948 in Salem, the daughter of Cecil and Betty (Revell) Dodson. She married John Edward Stephens on February 4, 1966 in Salem and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Jennifer Roshell Crundwell and husband Greg of Salem and John Allen Stephens and wife Lydia Kay of Alma; four grandchildren, Jaret Crundwell and Emily, Andrew Crundwell and wife Jacqlyn, Kamy Vail and husband Robby, and Kacey Garden and husband Brett; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Dacey, and Jasper; one sister, Becky Kerby and husband Joe of Arkansas; two half-sisters, Ladonna Hammond of Odin and Marie Lane of Patoka; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Dodson and Betty Austin; siblings, Glen Dodson, Bobby Dodson, Peggy Ochs, and Barb Gore; and brother-in-law, Tom Stephens. Phyllis was a dedicated member of the Apostolic Church of Salem. She enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. A Celebration of Life for Phyllis Irene Stephens will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Church of Salem with Calvin Jean officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Branch Cemetery in Kinmundy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials can be made to Sandy Branch Cemetery and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
