Obituary of Arlo E. "Gally" Gallentine

Arlo E. “Gally” Gallentine, age 86 of Salem, IL passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Arlo was born on July 31, 1936 in Sterling, IL, the son of Howard and Darlene (Peterson) Gallentine. He originally married Betty Tinkler, then married Marie Steevens who preceded him in death, and is currently married to Carylon Krutsinger who survives in Salem, IL. In addition to his wife, Carylon Gallentine, he is survived by two sons, Terry Gallentine and wife Penny of Rock Falls, IL and Lonny Gallentine and wife Autumn of Southern California; two step-sons, Rick Brubaker and Ray Brubaker and wife Gayla; three step-daughters, Ranae Bell and husband William “Bean”, Carmen Clark, and Cynthia Jo Blank and husband Matt; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Arlo was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Rock Falls, IL. He served in the United States Army from October 4, 1955 until his honorable discharge on October 3, 1958. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL until his retirement. While working, he contributed to the success of the world’s first continuously cast four-hundred-ton heat of steel. Arlo enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his family and his dog, Rascal. Funeral Services for Arlo E. Gallentine will be held at Noon on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Larry Albert officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem with military honors by the Salem American Legion. Memorials can be made to the family and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
