Obituary of Geneva O. Stanley

Geneva O. Stanley, age 85 of Salem, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Salem Township Hospital with her family by her side. Geneva was born on January 6, 1938 in Bald Knob, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry and Rosie (Osborn) Sterling. She married Ronald Stanley on February 23, 1973 in Kokomo, Indiana and he survives in Salem. Survivors include her husband, Ron; two sons, Alvin Hayes and wife Paula of Searcy, Arkansas, and Michael Lee Hayes and fiancé Rowena Royo of Collinsville; siblings, Orene James and husband Glenn of Bald Knob, Arkansas, Revon Thompson and husband Jesse of Judsonia, Arkansas, Clyde Sterling of Searcy, Arkansas, Veston Sterling of Judsonia, Arkansas, and Wincle Sterling of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kristen Walls, Matthew Hayes, Andrew Hayes, and Quintin Hayes; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Leon Sterling, Harvey Sterling, Charles Sterling, and Olis Sterling; and one great grandchild. Geneva was raised on a farm in Arkansas. In her adult life she worked for Cuneo Press in Kokomo, Indiana. She was a loving wife and mother. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed flowers, gardening and cooking. Geneva always had a love for singing and music, especially gospel music. Graveside services for Geneva Stanley will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Claude Howell officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
