Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Lux Hancock

Sandra “Sandy” Lux Hancock, age 79 of Salem passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at her home in Salem. She was born on November 22, 1943 in Farina, the daughter of Laurel and Neva (Ritter) Yates. She married Ralph Eugene Lux and he preceded her in death. On June 8, 1973 she married John Hancock and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2021. She is survived by four children, Ron Lux of Salem, Tammy Friend of Evansville, IN, Tracy McMeen of Salem, and Terri Thies and husband Jeff of Highland; daughter-in-law, Angela Lux of Kell; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Cash and husband Bill of Iuka, Rita Neaville and husband Danny of Iuka, Brenda Mount and husband Keith of Kinmundy, and Tracie Fisk of Iuka; and sister-in-law, Marie Yates of Kinmundy She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; husband, John; son, Mike Lux; two sisters, Pat Jamison and Phyllis Gray; and brother, Aaron “Butch” Yates. Sandy worked for the Farina Egg Plant, Brown Shoe Factory, and was a mother and homemaker. She was a dedicated member of Woodlawn Church in Iuka. She was always spreading kindness to everyone she encountered. Funeral Service for Sandra “Sandy” Lux Hancock will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10:30 am at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Bill Cash, Randy Sands, and Ray Draper officiating. Burial will be in Elder Cemetery in Kinmundy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Woodlawn Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at Crouse Funeral Home.
