Frances was our neighbor when she and Archie lived north of Salem. I remember her always watching out for my mom and being a great neighbor. She and Archie also knew my Grandparents (Gillis’s) who lived in the same neighborhood .
I remember when my dad passed away in 1983, and her bringing I believe lasagna or some dish over and asking if we needed anything, you would think with me being a 16 year old kid I may not remember a gesture like that, but I do. She was always caring, attentive, and concerned, one could not ask for a better neighbor that she was to my parents.
One of the funniest things I remember is when I was in Cosmetology school I was loading up my car with my roller and pin curled mannequin heads , I accidentally left one on top of the car! Francis was sitting at her kitchen table observing me, I saw her face pressed up against the window trying to get my attention, as soon as I saw her I pressed the brakes! Too late! My mannequin went rolling off the top of my car, down the windshield, to the hood, then the ground! We both had a good laugh out of that! She ran out in her robe and said I tried my best to get your attention! She was an amazing person. ❤️
