Obituary of Marietta Christman

Marietta Christman, 94, of Salem, died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her home. She was born Jan. 6, 1925 in Peoria, daughter of John and Flossie (Petri) Harper. She married Fredrich Frels and they later divorced. She then married Joseph Christman, and he preceded her in death in November of 2012. Mrs. Christman is survived by two daughters, Martha Wilzbach of Salem and Jean Pihl of Napa, California; two stepchildren, Terri Callaway of Greenview and Joseph Robert Christman of Texas; a sister, Carol Hawkins of Kansas; three grandchildren, Matthew Wilzbach and wife Ann of Salem, Brian Wilzbach and wife Dichele of Naperville and Eric Pihl and fiancee Alecia Alvarez of California; three step-grandchildren, Melissa Christman of Texas, Joshua Callaway and wife Jasmine of North Caroline and Jeremey Calloway of Arizona; and six great-grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Aaron and Alexander Wilzbach, all of Salem and Brevin and Bergen Wilzbach of Naperville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hibbert; a stepdaughter; and a step-grandson, Jacob Ryan Christman. Mrs. Christman was a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriner's Children's Hospital, or Catholic Charities and may be left at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home.
