Edith Holsapple

Obituary of Edith Marie Holsapple

Edith Marie Holsapple, age 93 of Odin, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Edith was born on December 31, 1928 in Odin, Illinois the daughter of Charles H. and Frances (Ross) Wesner. Edith loved her family who lovingly called her Momo. Family dinners on Sundays after Church were a tradition no one wanted to give up plus all holidays were at Momo’s house. People for miles around would drive to see the one street in Odin that had Christmas lights that lit up the whole town. She was a member and ordained Elder of the Community of Christ and taught Sunday School and Zion’s League. Edith was a stay-at-home Mom in her early years until her youngest child reached his high school years then went to work for Children and Family Services until she retired. Her work for other families was just as passionate as it was for her own. Edith’s enthusiasm for sports is an understatement. In her younger years, she played softball and was an excellent bowler. If you wanted to know any stats on the St Louis Cardinals or Illini Basketball you could just call Edith. She also never missed any of her kids or grandkids games and was never afraid to voice her opinion to the referees. Survivors include her daughter, Dianna Morrison and her husband Stan of Salem, IL; son, Steve Holsapple and special friend Susie Legan, of Gilman, IL and son, Brian Holsapple and wife Laurie of Salem, IL, Diana Lynn Holsapple of Odin, IL and sister-in-Law, Melinda Preston of Odin, IL. Six Grandchildren: Derek Morrison of New Smyrna Beach, FL.; Blake Morrison and wife Robyn of Fenton, MO; Jennifer Sanders and husband Travis of Santa Rosa Beach, FL.; Christopher Hurley of Salem, IL.; Lindsay Holsapple of Mt. Vernon, IL., 13 great grandchildren and also loved by many nieces and nephews who fondly called her Aunt Edie. She was preceded in death by grandson, John Steven Holsapple, great grandson, Alex Schuchhardt, 2 brothers, Earl Wesner & wife Martha, Charles Wesner & wife Ruth; 2 sisters, Mary Jane Dilg & husband Walter, Ruth Lynch and husband Ruff, and sister-in-law, Janet Holsapple.
