Dustin Wayne “Dusty” Rhodes, 41 of Nokomis, IL, formerly of Odin, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 8:05 P.M. in his home in Nokomis, IL. He was born on July 20, 1981 in Centralia, IL, a son of Michael and Sheila (Reynolds) Rhodes. Dusty graduated from Odin High School with the class of 1999 and went on to obtain his Paramedic License from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. He married the former Amanda Archibald on May 16, 2009 in Sandoval, IL at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She survives. Dusty was a dispatcher for Marion County EMS before becoming an EMTI serving the local area. He then went on to become a paramedic and worked for Life Star in Springfield and Rural Med in Greenville. He was also a volunteer member of the local Witt-Nokomis Ambulance. Dusty received the Excellence Award By the State of Illinois and the Certificate of Appreciation for going and above and beyond to save a life. He was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan and enjoyed watching wrestling. He enjoyed hunting, being with his family, especially spending time with his son, Drake and going swimming. He enjoyed family outings. Along with his wife, Amanda, Dusty is survived by his son, Drake Wayne Rhodes; parents, Mike and Sheila Rhodes of Odin, IL; in-laws, Greg (Helen) Archibald; maternal Grandmother, Janice Reynolds of Odin, IL; sister, Kari (London) Bookhout of Salem, IL; brother, Jerod Rhodes and special friend Serena of Odin, IL; brother-in-law, Kyle (Kaila) Archibald & Derek (Mariah) Archibald & Ryan (JoAnna) Archibald; nieces, Brooklyn, Tessa, & Brynna Bookhout of Salem; nephews, Evan Bookhout of Salem, IL & Rylan Rhodes of Centralia; aunt, Pam (Rich) Justice of Odin, IL; and cousin, Kaylee Justice of Wickliffe, KY. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ivan Reynolds, Paternal Grandparents, James and Wanda Rhodes, special uncle Bill Harrell, and many aunts and uncles. There will be a visitation will be held Friday, July 29, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Nokomis. Following the visitation, an escort will take Dusty to Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, IL where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home in Salem.
