Obituary of Kathleen Marie Carter

Kathleen Marie “Kay” Carter, 72 of Alma, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. Kay was born on March 23, 1950 in Salem the daughter of Frank Samuel Bryan and Myrtle Marie (Fradenburg) Bryan. She married Verland Carter on February 21, 1981 in Mt. Vernon and he survives in Alma. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Marie Bryan of Salem; five children, Janie Amburgey and husband Bennie of Central City, Chad Wilkins and wife Audrey of Iuka, Clayton Carter and wife Tiffany of Kinmundy, Jillian Kindermann and husband Steve of Alma, and Chandler Carter and wife Cheyenne of Salem; grandchildren, Willow, Tyler, Daniel, Tyler, Sadee, Emilee, Alexa (Tristan), Joselynn, Izabella, Hayden, Landon, Odin, and Astrid; great-grandchildren, Selena and Kinsley; three brothers, Allen Bryan and wife Cynthia of Mt. Vernon, Charles Bryan and wife Linda of Florida, and Rodney Bryan of Salem; sister-in-law, Gail Bryan of Greenville; and close friends, Judy Cain and husband Danny of Iuka. She was preceded in death by her father, and one brother, Danny Bryan. Kay was a member of the Church of God in Salem. She worked for many years as a Register Nurse and as Director of Nursing for several nursing homes. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. A graveside service for Kathleen Marie “Kay” Carter will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Martin Cemetery in Alma with Scott McKenzie officiating. Friends are asked to meet at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem by 10:00 am to drive in procession to the cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital-St. Louis and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
