Joseph Anthony “Joe” Yount, age 41 of Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his home. Joe was born on April 15, 1981 in Centralia, IL, the son of Robert “Bob” and Janet (Fife) Yount and they survive in Salem. Also surviving are two sisters, Michelle Yount of Salem and Ellen Neff (Mitch) of Iuka; two brothers, David Yount (Seth Hall) of LaGrange, KY and Steve Yount (Betty) of Louisville,KY; and nieces, Adri VonBurg, Charlie Aaron, Mackenzi Neff and Cheyenne Neff. Other survivors include several aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; two brothers, Jerry and Roger Yount; and a sister, Shirley Lynn Yount. Joe served in the United States Air Force for 6 years, where he worked as a meteorologist. He was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem. He was a graduate of Salem Community High School and Kaskaskia College. Joe was an avid sports fan and especially loved basketball. Funeral services for Joseph Anthony Yount will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
