Sidney Joseph “S.J.” Rhodes, Jr. age 72, a native of Morgan City, Louisiana and a resident of Salem died at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN on Monday, April 4, 2022 of cancer. He was born on September 1, 1949 the son of Sidney Joseph Rhodes, Sr. and Mary Alice (Picou) Rhodes. He married Beryl LeCompte on June 4, 2004 in Houma, Louisiana and she survives in Salem. In addition to his wife, Beryl LeCompte Rhodes, Sidney is survived by three sons, Michael R. DeMain of Centralia, Bryan J. Rhodes of Salem, Bradley J. Rhodes and wife Shelley of Hemet, CA; one granddaughter, Avery Grace Rhodes of Hemet, CA; one brother, Kenneth R. Rhodes of Morgan City, LA; one sister, Deena Marie Rhodes of Houma, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and one grandson, Adam Jacob Rhodes. Sidney attended New Life Church in Salem. He retired as a tugboat Captain after many years of work. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A Memorial Service for Sidney Joseph Rhodes, Jr. will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Claude Howell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
