Obituary of Dennis A. Wood

Dennis A. Wood, age 72 of Odin, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Dennis was born on March 16, 1950 in Salem, Illinois, the son of Glen A. and Pauline (McClain) Wood. He married Linda (Linder) Wood on September 21, 1968, and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage together. Survivors include his wife Linda Wood of Odin; children: Deana Tockstein of Springerton, Tommy Wood and wife Shawnda of Odin; siblings: Jerry Wood and wife Betty of Kell, Steve Wood of Salem, and Kay Barnes and husband Ray of Iuka; grandchildren, Megan Thomas and husband Ryah and their son, Tripp, Marissa Tockstein, Colton Wood and fiancé Kenzi, Gavein Wood and special friend Lexie and their daughter, Elle, Logan Wood and special friend Nurissa and their daughter, Nyla, and Riston Wood and special friend Lacey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Pauline, and a sister Kathy Neff. Dennis worked for many years as a stone and brick mason for the Brick Layers Local 8. He was a member of the Odin Baptist Church. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services for Dennis A. Wood will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Claude Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. There will be a visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
