Joseph S. Lockhart Jr, age 71 of Iuka, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL. Joseph was born on July 24, 1950 in Duluth, MN, the son of Joseph S. Lockhart Sr. and Aili Ellen (Strand) Lockhart. He married Mary (Stovall) Lockhart on December 15, 1973 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Villa Grove, IL and she survives in Iuka. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Joseph Lockhart and wife Michelle of Salem, Matthew Lockhart of Salem, and Michael Lockhart of Salem; grandchildren, Darien Connelly of Effingham, Collin Nihiser of Mattoon and Grace Ann Lockhart of Salem; and great grandchildren, Adrian and Ethan Nihiser, Rilynn Connelly, and Skyler Iglesias. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sister, Pam and Dawn; and grandson, Riley Lockhart. Joseph was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem, a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired as an Engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad. Funeral Mass for Joseph S. Lockhart Jr., will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem with Father Abraham Adejoh and Deacon Steve Eischens officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a visitation on Friday at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem Animal Shelter and can be left at the funeral home.
