Kenneth W. Chitwood, age 86 of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem. Kenneth was born on July 15, 1935 in Marion County, the son of Herman and Blanche (Brubaker) Chitwood. He married Glena L. (Byars) Chitwood on September 19, 1959 in Mt Vernon, IL and she preceded him in death in 2005. Kenneth is survived by his two children, Jason H. Chitwood and wife Tracey of Fairfield and Amy Shufeldt of Salem; two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Hannah; and one brother, Edwin Chitwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one brother, Max Chitwood. Kenneth was a retired carpenter and had been employed as the Assistant Marion County Housing Supervisor for 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Funeral services for Kenneth W. Chitwood will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Denise Burke officiating. Burial will be in Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery in Kell. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Marion County Relay for Life and can be accepted at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
