Frances G. Uchitjil, age 96 of Iuka, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Frankfort Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in West Frankfort, IL. Frances was born on March 7, 1925 in Iuka, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Howe) Uchitjil. Survivors include her brother, Robert Uchitjil and wife Naida of Odin; sisters, Ann Ruckman of Madera, CA, Niece Quick of Odin, and Carol Phillips and husband George of Salem; sister in-law, Linda Uchitjil of Odin; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including her caregiver and niece, Connie Howard of West Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph, Raymond, and Leroy Uchitjil; and a sister, Mary Booher. Frances was a member of the Woodlawn Church in Iuka. She worked at the Brown Shoe Factory and later at IGA in Salem. She loved art, quilting, family genealogy, traveling, gardening, and gospel quartets. Funeral services for Frances G. Uchitjil will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Bill Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Iuka Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
