Lonnie C. Bowling, age 79, of Salem passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Salem Township Hospital. Lonnie was born on May 14, 1942 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky the son of Russell and Della (Binion) Bowling. He married Kathryn “Kathy” (Schlais) Bowling on December 2, 1995 in Salem, and she survives in Salem. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Jennifer McCarty and husband Eddie of Owingsville, Kentucky; five step children; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mae Hackathorn and Sue Greene. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lonnie was a faithful member of the Apostolic Church of Salem. He enjoyed flying his radio controlled airplanes, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He was retired from US Steel. Funeral services for Lonnie C. Bowling will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Apostolic Church of Salem with Calvin Jean officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
