Obituary of Kenneth W Neilson

Kenneth W. Neilson, age 72 of Alma, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Kenneth was born on July 3, 1949 in Salem the son of Kenneth E. and Lula Mae (Black) Neilson. He married Marlis Ingram on August 31, 1969 in Kinmundy and she survives in Alma. In addition to his wife Marlis Neilson, he is survived by a son, Tyler Neilson and wife Stephanie of Kinmundy; daughter, Shelly Schuyler and husband Drew of Mahomet; grandchildren, Katelyn Schuyler, Westin Neilson, Sophia Schuyler, and Jayda Neilson; brothers, Terry Neilson and fiancé Angie Smith of Kinmundy, Gary Neilson and wife Cindy of Alma, and Ronnie Neilson and wife Jennifer of Iuka; sister, Phyllis Rahm and husband Don of Carlyle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Lora Ingram; and sister-in-law, Vickie Neilson. Kenneth was a dedicated member of Kinmundy Christian Church. He had a large part in building the addition on to the church, and helped build many other structures around the community. He was retired from Poettker Construction and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their events. Funeral Services for Kenneth Neilson will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Kinmundy Christian Church with Josh Conley officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Branch Cemetery in Alma. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church and again on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Kinmundy Christian Church and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
