Martin Joseph “Marty” Moffett Jr., age 72 of Kell, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Marty was born on March 6, 1948 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Martin Joseph Moffett Sr. and Josephine (Rockford) Moffett. He married Sharon (Carter) Moffett on April 19, 1980 and she survives in Kell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Martin “Marty” Moffett and wife Gina of Herrin and Heath Moffett of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Rebecca and Marin Moffett and Gabriel Moffett; one sister, Mary Katherine Allmon and husband Jim of Springfield and two nephews, Jim Allmon and Chris Allmon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Marty worked as a coal miner for 27 years, was an Auxiliary Fireman and EMT for 20 years in West Frankfort and also worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Harvey’s Point Christian Church. There will be no public services for Martin Moffett. Memorial gifts can be given to the Harvey’s Point Christian Church and can be received at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family.
