Obituary of Raymond "Ray" Bumgarner

Raymond “Ray” Bumgarner, age 72 of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Raymond was born on December 18, 1948 in Iuka, the son of Everette and Lenora May (Wooley) Bumgarner. He married Julie Morgan on December 21, 1987 in Houston, Texas and she survives in Salem, they enjoyed 37 years together, being married for 34. In addition to his wife Julie Bumgarner of Salem, he is survived by two sons, Adam Bumgarner and Matthew Bumgarner both of Salem; and five siblings, Helen Easley, Clarence Bumgarner, Florence Morris, Paul Bumgarner and wife Sarah, and Utha Henson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Ashley Bumgarner and Julia Rae Bumgarner; and siblings, Walter Bumgarner, Henry Bumgarner, Dorothy Venters, and George Bumgarner. Raymond was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He then went on to work for Smalley Farms and Bobby Lewis Farms. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with his family. Funeral services for Raymond Bumgarner will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Calvin Jean officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Salem American Legion. Memorials can be made to the family and can be received at the funeral home.
