Obituary of Ronald Gene Johnson

Ronald Gene Johnson, age 47 of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital after a long hard fight. Ronald was born on October 7, 1973 in Effingham, and welcomed into the arms of his parents, Robert and Wilma (Groff) Johnson. He met and married the love of his life Nicole (Thomas) Johnson and she survives in Centralia and to this marriage was born his pride and joy and buddy, Rory. In addition to his wife Nicole, he is survived by his daughter, Rory of Centralia; mother, Wilma Rosemary Johnson of Benton; brother, Rodney Douthit of Indiana; aunts and uncles, Gayla Duncan, Jim Groff and Lyle Talbert all of Odin, Bill Groff of Nashville, Larry Groff and wife Nancy of Sandoval, Cindy Shopinski of Walnut Hill, Jimmy Groff of Centralia, and Robert and Jody Groff of Vandalia; father in-law and mother in-law, Jim and Pam Thomas of Centralia; brother from another mother, Ricky Wilmoth of Sandoval; and numerous cousins and friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; uncles, Gene, Raymond, and Mike; aunts, Sherry and Betty; and grandparents, William and Nancy Groff and Robert and Marguerite Johnson. Ron found a job he enjoyed and was good at an EMT. He worked on many ambulance services and spent the most time with Lifestar. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family and friends. Funeral Services for Ronald Gene Johnson will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow at Pritchett Cemetery in Boulder. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Crouse Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Rory’s Education fund with checks made to Nicole Johnson and can be received at the funeral home.
