Obituary of Robert Tolbert
Robert Tolbert, age 71 of Salem, passed away on Friday January 29, 2021 at his home.
Robert was born on October 17, 1949 in Atwater, Illinois the son of Willard Lee and Wanda (Eskew) Tolbert. He first married Ellen Downen and they had three children. He later married Robin (Raglin) Tolbert on July 17, 1998 in Centralia and she survives in Salem.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Robert William Tolbert Jr. and wife Laura, Jenny Smith and husband Mike, Timothy Daniel Tolbert, and Lucas Parke and wife Kayla all of Centralia; five grandsons; one granddaughter; several great-grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Harold “Rick” Melton and Bill Melton and wife Patricia both of Centralia; brother-in-law, Rand Raglin and wife Mara of Benton, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Tolbert; and one sister, Mary Jane Barnett.
Robert was a member of the Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia. He worked at Rockwell, Siegler Stove, and Monsanto. He was a member of the Salem Kiwanis Club and was a Civil War re-enactor.
Funeral services for Robert Tolbert will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia with Pastor Karl Barnfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Relay for Life and can be left at the Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
