Mary Ellen Raver, age 91 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2019 at her home. Mary Ellen was born on February 15, 1928 in Danville, Illinois, daughter of Russell and Gladys (Frazee) Leverenz. She married Maurice Eugene Hyde on June 18, 1947 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death. She later married Robert "Bob" Raver on September 20, 1990 and he survives in Salem. She worked in real estate sales and apartment rentals. She was a member of the Salem First Christian Church and the Junior Women's Club. Survivors include her husband, Robert; a son, Larry Hyde and wife Suanne of St. Charles, IL; daughter, Susan Hellige and husband Dennis of Collinsville; step son, James Robert Raver and wife Nita of Odin; step daughters, Susan Bacon and husband Dennis of Benton, Jenny Carlson and husband Ed of Salem, and Laura Westegaard and husband Dennis of La Grange, IL; sister, Norma Jane Hunssaker of Greenfield, WI; several grandchildren, several step grandchildren, and several step great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Maurice Hyde, and two brothers, William and Jack Leverenz. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday September 19, 2019 at 11:00 am at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home with Phil Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a visitation from 9:30 am until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Christian Church and can be left at the funeral home.
