Obituary of Carl B Charlton

Carl B. Charlton, age 88 of Kell, passed away on Monday, September, 28, 2020 at Twin Willows Nursing Center. Carl was born on January 21, 1932 in Cartter, Illinois the son of Orville and Myrtle (Shelton) Charlton. He married Donna Currie on April 19, 1957 in Alma and she survives in Kell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Doug Charlton and wife Dina of Columbia, MO, Deanna Thomas and husband Steve of Walnut Hill, Carole Foutch and husband Sam of Odin, and Cathy Lynch and husband Jim of Centralia; grandsons, Kyle Kelley, Kaleb Kelley and wife Haley, Mike Thomas and wife Katie, Zeb Charlton and Matt Lynch; granddaughters, Hailey Robuck and husband Kyle, Nicole Thomas and fiancé Kenny Buchanan, Kristen Hood and husband Nathan, and Michelle Lynch; one step grandson; one step granddaughter; one great grandchild with two on the way; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gertrude Williams, Erma Garner, and Edith Raguse; and five brothers, Leroy, Reuben, Allen, Eddie and Ted Charlton. Carl was a devoted member of Frist Christin Church in Salem, where he served as an Elder, Deacon and on the mission board. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for ACCO and later C&B Repair, until retirement. Graveside services for Carl B. Charlton will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Phil Martin officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Salem American Legion. Memorial contributions can be made to Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
