Obituary of Carl Dean Byers
Carl Dean Byers, age 73 of Salem, passed away on Monday October 21, 2019 at his home.
Carl was born on August 3, 1946 in Effingham, to Carl E. and Corliss O. (Wilson) Byers. He married Patricia “Joann” Bushue on September 10, 1967 in Mason.
Survivors include, his wife, Patricia “Joann” Byers of Salem; daughter, Kimberly Piper and husband Bruce of Mt. Carmel; son, Troy Dean Byers and Lena of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jared, Abigail, and Madilyn; sisters, Linna Bradford of Heartville, Donna Bushue of Georgia and Anita O’Leary and husband Mike of Kinmundy; sisters in-law, Linda Sigrist of Springfield, Darlene Poff and husband Jack of Effingham; brother in-law, John Bushue and wife Joye of Effingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
Carl was a retired teacher at Salem Community High School. He was a member of the Salem First Christian Church and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Services for Carl Dean Byers will be held on Thursday October 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Salem First Christian Church with Phil Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Alma Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Thursday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp or the Salem First Christian Church and can be left at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home who, is in charge of arrangements.
