Obituary of Jean Baity
Jean McKay Baity went to be with her Lord on the morning of Monday, December 16th, 2019 at the age of 86. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and daughter Lynn McKay. She is survived by her sons Bill Jr. and Jeffrey, his wife Linda, and granddaughter Shelby. She will be dearly missed. Jean was born in Centralia, IL on September 9th, 1933 to Dwight and Ruby Foster. Jean always stated she had a happy childhood thanks to her Granny and Grandad, Maude and David G. Foster, who raised her. At the age of 17, she married Bill Baity on June 14th, 1951. She was told by family that “it would never last”, they were married for 49 years when he passed away. Jean worked in newspaper advertising for the Centralia Sentinel and later the Woodward Daily Press. When Bill was deployed to Korea during what she called the “longest 18 months of her life”, she lived with her Granny and Grandad Foster. It was during this time that her first son Bill Jr. was born. Three years later, Lynn McKay was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. They eventually moved to Salem, IL where Jeffrey was born in 1960. In 1970 Jean moved to Woodward, OK when Bill was relocated, ultimately moving to Oklahoma City in 1978, where she lived the remainder of her life surrounded by family. In 1990 Jean was blessed with a granddaughter, Shelby Linn, born to Jeff and Linda. Jean would tell anyone she met that Shelby was the “light of her life.” Jean is remembered by her family as a wonderful cook and baker, an avid reader, and the family historian. While her family will mourn her loss here on earth, they take great comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones that have passed before her.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at The Mansion at Waterford and Frontier Hospice for their compassionate care while taking care of Jean.
