"Kep" and my name, Kemp, are similar. While prepping for river trips we would often respond to someone's request only to find out they wanted the other to respond. Our bond became close because of the mishaps. He guided rafting trips like a young person who was riding a roller coaster the first time, smiling, giggling and thoroughly happy. His son Jim and I also became close. It was a Rogue River trip in the early fall one year that our relationship cemented in the majestic canyon. At dusk, next to a campfire, Kep would sit there taking it all in. Kind of quiet, measured, and soft spoken. Yet, when he did share, it was always a profound take on whatever the subject had been. I will always hold a dear place in my memory and heart of Kep. We are all better people for having had him in our lives. Rest in peace, power and paradise good sir. May the river flow as graceful as you were.
