Kathryn Elsie Jones, age 87 of Salem, passed away Friday July 5, 2019 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem. Kathryn was born on August 1, 1931 in Foster Township, Illinois to Jesse G. and Laveda (Cox) Jones. She married H. Dean Jones on April 24, 1948 in Kinmundy, Illinois and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, H. Dean Jones of Salem; daughter, Carolyn Vandeveer of Salem; daughter in-law, Cathy Jones of Pana; sister, Pearl Griffin of Centralia; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Jones and wife Fran of Fleming Island, Florida and Gordon Jones and wife Carolyn of Carlyle; Grandchildren, Michelle Blomberg and husband Chris of Kinmundy, Michael Vandeveer and wife Tammy of Alma, Denise Jones of Pana, Tricia Ogden and husband Jared of El Paso, Crystal Wolf and husband Blake of St. Louis; great grandchildren, Cauy, Jaron, and Kaleb Blomberg, Ian King and wife Brooke, Abby King, Mackenzie and Nathaniel Ogden and Reese Wolf; great great grandchildren: Hope Vangetson and Presley King. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ron Jones; a son in-law, Russell Vandeveer and her in-laws: Lewis and Nell Jones. Kathryn was retired from N.A.L.. She was a member of the Kinmundy Methodist Church and was a former volunteer EMT in Kinmundy. Funeral services for Kathryn Jones will be held on Monday July 8, 2019 at 10:30 am at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home with Lisa Quilliams officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Branch Cemetery in Alma. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service. Memorial donations can be made to Sandy Branch Cemetery and left at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home.
