LaFern V. Lewis, age 85 of Salem, passed away at Twin Willows Nursing Center on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. LaFern was born on May 6, 1934 in Oskaloosa, Illinois the daughter of Sherman and Grace (Pickle) Lewis. On May 10, 1952 she married Donald Edward Lewis in Tuscola and he preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter, Vicki Lane and husband Jim of Kinmundy; grandson, Jamey Lane and special friend Mimi Hawkins of Walnut Hill; great-granddaughter, Joey Lane of Nashville; sisters, Alberta Martin and husband Dean of Westfield, Delores Parker and husband Ken of Alma and Rosie Slater and husband Lyle of Salem and brother, Carlon Lewis of Kinmundy. LaFern worked for J.C. Penny and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Howard Lewis. Private graveside services will be held at Elder Cemetery in Kinmundy with Chuck Smith officiating. Memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
