Obituary of Jerry Lee Gray

Jerry Lee Gray, age 62 of Junction City, passed away on April 3, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Jerry was born on September 19, 1958 in Salem, the son of Charles E. and Carolyn S. (Knapp) Gray. He is survived by his four children, Brandy Berning and husband Chad of Kell, Jerlyn Gray of Centralia, Jacob Gray and wife Lacey of Junction City and Molly Willis and husband Dylan of Salem; two bonus daughters, Hannah Tellefsen and husband Josh of Centralia, and Terra Gammon of Hoffman; 16 grandchildren, Jonah, Zebulon, Keilyn, Caymen, Airyanee, Kamron, Brenden, Ta’Jha, Elijah, Madilynn, Jenna, Gracie, Brantley, Kenzleigh, Harlow, and Meadow; one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Jeanne Speaks and husband Jerry of Salem; brother, Jeff Gray of Salem; three nephews, Matt Akes and wife Amber of Marion, Mark Akes and wife Lindsey of Marion, and MikeLynn Gray of Salem; two nieces, Angie Shaw and husband Darrell of Salem, and Casey Young and husband Jeremy of Salem; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; and ex-wives’, Vicky Gray and Amanda Gammon. He and Amanda remained best friends. They were very close. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Gray who passed away in May of 2020; and sister-in-law, Beulah Gray. Jerry worked many jobs in his life, but his career was being a police officer. He worked as an officer in Central City, Junction City, and Sandoval. He retired as a Deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department in 2018 after 20 years of service. He absolutely loved serving and protecting. He also served as a fire fighter in Centralia in the early 80’s. Jerry was a Mason in the Centralia Lodge 201, he was also a Shriner. Jerry had many friends, his closest friends were Virgil Harris of Salem, Jim Malone of Odin, and Jerry Patton of Sandoval. He had two old cars that he loved working on with his best friend Virgil. He loved going to car shows, and the Antique Power Days. Jerry was, and is loved by many. He was such a great father to his children and papa to his grandbabies, and friend. He would do anything for absolutely anyone. He had such a kind heart and a beautiful soul. He went to church every single Sunday at The Rock Church in Centralia. He never missed one service. He was so loving and trust worthy. He truly will be missed by so many. Celebration of Life Services will be on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Noon at The Rock Church in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until Noon at the church. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. There will be a Masonic Service starting at 11:40 am, with a Shriners walk through to follow. Memorials can be made to the Shriners and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements. The family invites all Law Enforcement brothers and sisters, along with all of Jerry’s friends to attend the service.
