Lois Marie Beard, age 62 of Odin, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, with her family by her side. Lois was born on March 18, 1958 in Centralia, IL the daughter of John Bennett Charlton and Virginia (Tadlock) Buckhorn. She married John Beard on December 6, 1974 in Odin and he survives in Odin. Survivors include her husband; children, Shonna Beard and fiancé Josh White of Sandoval, Anthony Beard of Odin, Terry Beard of Alton, and Stacey Oswald and husband Kalan of Iuka; five grandchildren, Bethaney and Savanna Berger, Kaiden White, Riley Beard, and Sklynne Oswald; three great grandchildren, Malachiae Lindsey and twins Tinsleigh and Everleigh Reckmo; siblings, Sarah Karrick, Tom Charlton and wife Dorothy, Sally Green, Bob Charlton and significant other Carol Cummings, Virginia Adams, George Charlton and wife Pam, Roy Haines and wife Cheryl, Kenneth Parkus and wife Cindy, and Tom Buchhorn and wife Gaylene; sister-in-law, Neoma Charlton; brothers and sisters in-law, Patricia and Dick Crippen of Salem, Jim and Martha Beard of Centralia, and Mary Sue Beard of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Ruth Beard and James Everett Beard Sr., a brother, John Charlton, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Hess. Lois worked at Brown Shoe Company, Odin Care Center, and Casey’s, but her most important job was being a wife and mother. She was a Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts Leader and was involved with the Odin Summer Youth League. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday October 24, 2020 from 2:00- 6:00 p.m. at the Salem Community Center. Memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J.
