Herbert Engh, age 77 of Salem, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Herbert was born on October 22, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Herbert Engh and Ruth Skeets. He is survived by three daughters, Denise McCormack and husband Dan of Salem, Samantha Wright and husband Steve of Winnebago, and Jennifer Gibson of Centralia; the mother of his children, Barb Richardson of Salem; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Olivia, Sara, Noah, William, Brittany and Aaliyah; one sister, Beverly Kunz and husband Marty of Washington; and a special caregiver, Yvette. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Diane Llamas. Herbert was a devoted member of the Apostolic Church in Salem. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. He worked as a printer for the Salem Times Commoner, as a custodian, and as a volunteer driver for Project Bread. Herb never met a stranger. A private funeral service will be held at the Apostolic Church in Salem with Calvin Jean officiating. Public visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 10:00 am until Noon at the church. Private Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. The family requests that those attending the visitation please wear a mask, be respectful of social distancing and maintain proper hand hygiene. They also request that there be no handshakes or hugs but appreciate your attendance and words of condolence. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and can be received at the Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
