Obituary of Sarah Dalton
Sarah Heskett Dalton passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021 in New Orleans, LA where her two sons live. She was 88 years old.
Sarah was born in Salem, IL on February 18, 1933 to Clarence Murle and Emily Tolliver Heskett. She was one of five children, graduating from Kinmundy High School in 1950. She worked for the government for several years in Washington DC, and Heidelberg Germany, including as the secretary to two-star general Hayden L. Boatner. She returned to her hometown of Salem, IL in 1959 and married George Paul “GP” Dalton in Salem, IL on May 27, 1961. They were married for 47 years before GP’s death in 2008, and had three children, Russell, Emily and Michael. Throughout her married life, Sarah lived in several cities including Houston, TX, Glendive, MT, Denver, CO, Conroe, TX, and Victoria, TX. Sarah was a real estate agent during the late 1970s, and later, owned her own real estate company, Dalton Realty, during the 1980s in Conroe, TX.
After retirement, Sarah and GP spent most of their time at their fish camp in Port O’Connor, TX. Sarah was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed catching Red Snapper in the Gulf of Mexico. She was a loving grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, Isabella, Adam, Camille, Griffin, Trinity, Paulina, Olivia and Ana, and 2 step grandchildren, Joey and Bosco. She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit and kind, generous nature.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 22 at Alma Cemetery in Alma, IL followed by a celebration of Sarah’s life. Those wishing to honor Sarah’s life may make a donation in her memory to Shriner’s Hospital for Children at www.lovetotherescue.org, by mail at PO Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886 or left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
